Exhibition concept

In concert with the rapid development of East Asian economies, advances in information technology have greatly accelerated. In these new East Asian Societies, the traditional hierarchy separating technology and art has started to crumble, and both are becoming more a part of everyday life. Creative exchanges and interactions are increasing and modes of artistic expression are diversifying. There is a growing segment of contemporary artists who use everyday technologies as tools to play and paint with, creating works that dissolve the boundary between Contemporary Art and Media Art.
"LIVE BY PLAY" is a group exhibition by a new generation of East Asian artists who use information and media technologies which are constantly evolving and becoming part of daily life. They combine these elements in clever ways, at times leaping boundaries and placing familiar landscapes in a new perspective. The exhibition consists of photography, moving images, and media installations by 16 participating artists from Taiwan, China, Korea and Japan. Each work shows a uniquely Asian sense of "playfulness". By experiencing this exhibition in its entirety, you will see and feel a new East Asian reality.
