an exhibition project based on the idea of an art- and knowledge-transfer between Austria and Japan
with Axel Koschier, Belén Rodriguez, Benjamin Tomasi, Lotte Lyon, Go Watanabe, Lyota Yagi, Teppei Soutome, Yukihiro Taguchi, curated by Elsy Lahner and Takahiro Kaneshima

Each year, four artists from Austria are offered the opportunity to stay in Tokyo for six months as artists in residence in the Austrian government’s studios at Arakawa-ku. Due to this fact, the two curators Elsy Lahner, living in Vienna, and Takahiro Kaneshima, based in Yokohama, came up with the idea to exhibit these artists’ works in a group show in Yokohama and together with the works of four selected Japanese artists.

The intention is, to connect both contries and to enable a dialogue between the artists, their works and their audiences. With the title “Next Reality” the exhibition is picking up and pursuing topics and issues the artists are dealing with: a code conversion of visual into akustic impulses, a transformation of air into movement, the variableness and reinterpretation of art works, the design of future visions, the creation of new realities in space, of new layers of meaning or the reality of foreign cultures and habits.
